"Captain I find it highly
illogical that this man
suffered so long with
headaches and is only
now receiving
Craniosacral
Therapy"
About 100 years ago an Osteopathic physician named William Sutherland decided to fit himself with a specialized helmet that he designed to apply firm pressure to specific bones of his skull and then record the effects that he experienced over time. The results were amazing but also debilitating and painful. Sutherland eagerly catalogued the many symptoms he felt when he immobilized his cranial bones. With this valuable information, the science of Craniosacral began to take flight. Sutherland and many generations of Osteopaths that have followed, are in possession of a most profound anatomical fact: our skull is comprised of separate bones that fit together intimately and move regularly as an essential part of normal brain and spinal chord function and vitality. The movements of cranial bones are tiny but mighty in their importance. When these movements are limited by even a few microns, the results can be "mind blowing" as in, very detrimental to the functioning of the brain and it's surrounding tissue and fluid within the skull. Often headaches, migraines, foggy thinking, and jaw pain and tension are the experienced results. The ill effects do not stop at the head and can create a myriad of full body symptoms.
What to do? Mobilize the bones and the internal membranes of the head to return these tiny but extremely vital motions. This my friends is an art form accomplished by steady and sensitive well trained hands. The skill is known as Craniosacral therapy. The art form is to pick up the cues from the skull and it's internal fluid and tissue system, but with hands that "listen well" to micro movements and lend assistance in a gentle and precise way. Done correctly this artful therapy frees the brain and surrounding membrane, fluid and bones from restriction and reestablishes normal motion. It's like Vulcan magic at releasing built up tension, pain and headache pressure. Now available on planet earth without a prescription. MC
